All members of the Magic City Brigade agree to abide by both the Corporation Bylaws and the Code of Conduct below. If any potential member does not agree to abide by either the Corporation Bylaws or the Code of Conduct below, they should not pursue membership. Any member found to have broken this Code of Conduct may be subject to sanctions (including potential termination from membership) based upon the processes of the separately published Magic City Brigade Grievance Policy. Updates to this Code may be made periodically by the Board of Directors.
1. Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated in the Magic City Brigade. This, as per our Bylaws, includes discrimination on the basis of ancestry, color or race; cultural or ethnic background; economic disadvantage; ideological, philosophical or political belief or affiliation; marital or parental status; national or regional origin; physical disability; religion or religious or denominational affiliation; gender or sexual orientation; or age. Physical and verbal assault will also not be tolerated.
2. When at games, watch parties, or any other Brigade event, you are, as a member, representing the Magic City Brigade. Please conduct yourself appropriately. This includes NOT partaking in any of the following:
• Violating stadium policies of any kind. This goes for Birmingham Legion FC home matches, as well as road games.
• Throwing ANYTHING onto the field of play during a Birmingham Legion FC game, or any game for any of the other teams supported by the Magic City Brigade.
• Starting – or participating – in chants which are offensive or discriminatory in any way.
• Slurs, derogatory language.
• Creating – and bringing to games – any flag or banner with an offensive or discriminatory message.
• Threatening – or causing – physical harm to anyone at games.
• Discriminatory, disrespectful or hateful language in online communications.
3. If you are witness to any fellow member of the Magic City Brigade participating in any of the prohibited behaviors listed above, please let them know, let us know and please, do not participate yourself or encourage the continuation of such activity. Please contact one of the Board of Directors directly or email us at magiccitybrigade@gmail.com to report any such activity.
4. We reserve the right to revoke anyone’s membership for his or her actions at Brigade events, games (be they featuring Birmingham Legion FC, USMNT/USWNT or local amateur teams supported by the Brigade) and/or online activity that violates our Code of Conduct. Removal from membership will be conducted following an investigation – and vote - on the part of the Board of Directors.
5. We also reserve the right to revoke membership of any member found to be re-selling Birmingham Legion FC supporters’ section tickets above face value. We want to encourage the growth of soccer in our city and state, and do not believe over-charging for match tickets is a productive way of doing so. Tickets, however, may be sold at face value or below when necessary.
6. You are responsible for your own actions as we are responsible for protecting the reputation of the Magic City Brigade as the first supporters group of Birmingham Legion FC.
7. If you believe a crime is occurring or has occurred at a game or another Brigade event, please report it to the proper local authorities immediately.
