I have been a part of the Brigade for a number of years - having first joined in with the fun in 2017 and our humble beginnings at the SHAC in the Hammers days. It's been amazing to see how Legion FC emerged from those early days and to see how the team has established itself competitively in the league. As the President for this term, I am looking forward to working with newer and long-term members alike to build off the work of previous boards, continuing to grow the group. I am also excited about the team's move to Protective Stadium with all the possibilities it brings us as supporters. Having grown up in the UK, my first soccer love was Manchester United.
I grew up in Woodstock, AL where I had little to no exposure to soccer. My interest started with watching the US in the 2014 World Cup. I joined the Brigade in 2019 about halfway into year 1 for Legion. The idea of a local professional soccer club excited me, and after coming to a few games I decided I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the supporters section. In 2021, I became a referee for local grassroots soccer, which has only grown my love of the sport!
I've been a member of the Magic City Brigade since the pre-pandemic days of 2020. However, my interest in local soccer goes back beyond the Legion to the Hammers days when I was in college. My first game was watching them play the Atlanta Silverbacks. I grew up playing community soccer in school and casually supported the Seattle Sounders. I didn't really care that much for international football until Birmingham City FC fans found out about us and that relationship started. Now I Keep Right On while Hammering Down!
My interest in soccer started in 2014 while I was still living in Nashville; eventually watching games with local supporters groups. Despite watching games, I never really got into the game until Birmingham was awarded a USL team a few years ago. I went in and bought tickets and joined up with the Brigade and I've been on the ride every since.
Hey! I’m Katie Peters and I’m excited to serve on the board this term. I’m a sign language interpreter with Jefferson County Schools and I love roller skating and cross stitching. I have been a part of the Magic City Brigade since 2019. I originally started going to matches with my husband, Ian, but quickly fell in love with the sport and fun of being apart of the Brigade. I look forward to seeing this group grow and get more involved in the community.
